Robert Stobo

Thanks to the Indiana Postal History Facebook group and a bit of internet research we finally found out the old post office previously located on our property was named after a person- Captain Robert Stobo, 1726-1770. It is fun to see titles like “The Fantastic Adventures Of Captain Stobo” or “The Unbelievable Exploits of Captain Robert Stobo”. A number of biographical publications have been written and we hope to be able to read them in between planning and prepping for the garden and tending chickens. Bonus- there is also a youtube video (I have not watched this yet). Links to the articles and the video are below hopefully you’ll forgive the lack of a proper citation.
